Next up for Nexium.
We already know Nexium can be used for chemoprevention, so why stop there? In murine models, esomeprazole increased the response of both wildtype and p53-mutant head and neck squamous cell carcinoma to radiation in a dose-dependent manner. In true basic science fashion, the authors take it a step further to explain why. It looks like esomeprazole upregulates p21 to arrest cells in the G1 phase of the cell cycle. The best part? We already know how safe it is. | Hebert, Oncotarget 2021
