Promoting better outcomes.

We’ve seen that HPV-mediated oropharyngeal cancers can express the estrogen receptor. And while there’s a wealth of prognostic information for p16-positive tumors, prognostic markers for p16-negative tumors are limited. In this study, MGMT methylation was associated with improved local control for both p16-positive and p16-negative tumors. Tumors that were p16-negative and with unmethylated MGMT had very high local recurrence compared to any other combination of p16-positivity and/or MGMT methylation: 69% for p16-/MGMT- vs <15% for all other p16/MGMT combinations. | Jensen Garrett, Radiother Oncol 2021
